RC supports PTX, E57, PLY and Z+F (ZFS, ZFPRJ) laser-scanning file formats. Importing converts laser scans into an internal format with .lsp file extension. Next time you want to work with the same laser scan data, you do not need to import them again, simply add the respective .lsp files to your new project.
To import laser scans you can simply drag and drop them into your project, alternatively you can click the Laser Scan button in the WORKFLOW tab.
For Registration specify/select one of the following:
Exact - imported poses will be left unchanged; in this case the imported model defines the coordinate system.
Draft - scanning stations have been registered but the registration needs to be fine-tuned.
Unregistered - when the stations have not been registered, the registration engine will calculate poses of all scans.
You can also choose, if your data are Georeferenced or not.
Depending on what information your laser scanner is able to provide it is possible to select the Features source. Select either Color or Intensity values. (Scanner which is able to capture color is still able to capture intensity, though it has to be exported with preserving the intensity from the registration software)
If you want to align both laser scan data and the photos, preferably use Color.
Intensity channel provides more accurate information.
Noise profile defines how the point cloud precision changes with the growing distance from the scanner position and laser intensity value. You can select Noise free profile, ScanStationP20 or define your own profile based on the laser scanner technical documentation. To add a new profile, edit the noiseprofiles.xml file. You can find it in the application executables folder.
Output path is used to specify a target folder for .lsp files. You can save them with original data or select a custom folder.
