In this tutorial series, Jakub will guide you through all of the steps needed to create a drone mapping project with RealityCapture. The entire series will simulate a real job you might encounter as a surveyor. This intro shows a brief overview of what will be in the series.
The series consists of Part 1- Part 4.
Part 1: Camera alignment, optimizing the alignment. https://youtu.be/jxOCAr_33zA. In this part, we’ll go over importing the images, aligning them, and optimizing the alignment with the ground control points. We’ll take a look at how to deal with the so-called bowl effect, how to deal with inaccurate geolocation of the drone images, and what to do when ground control points and images have different vertical systems.
Part 2: Model reconstruction. Cleaning, texturing, classifying the model and generating the cross-sections. https://youtu.be/xN_E3DnF_Gw. In this one, we’ll go over reconstructing the model, cleaning it, and texturing it. Then we’re going to create cross-sections of the model.
Part 3: Ortho projections, contours, measurements, ortho mosaic editing. https://youtu.be/Ag451qyOQHo. In this part, we’ll go over creating ortho projections, contours, measurements, and ortho mosaic editing.
Part 4: Exporting the model and use in 3rd party applications. https://youtu.be/lhm9SvJI8rk. In this one, we’ll go over exporting our creations and using them in third-party applications like CloudCompare and QGIS.
