CUDA error
Answered
Hi,
I'm getting a "CUDA error: 30: unknown error" when I try and run reconstruction at Normal level so I can't move beyond the alignment stage. I also get an error message in the tray saying "Display driver stopped and has recovered". Any ideas what might be the issue? It's not a huge project - only 48 images.
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, on a laptop with 12 GB RAM, i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE GPU.
Many thanks
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy
Install the newest drivers for the GPU
The "Display driver stopped and has recovered" is a issue over 3 years already and Nvidia solved it not yet !!!!!
its something with power saving and it can be pain. there is no solution , but the issue get lost in few days..
In short the CUDA err. 30 seems to originate with OVERHEATING of the GPU
so install https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner
and play a bit with the FAN speeds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqRhKA4EEaQ
and report back...... -
Hi Nicholas Llewellyn-Jones
Thsi is a solution. the error code 6 in CUDA is related to overheated GPU

Hi Wishgranter ,
Also the same problem... I have updates the last drivers and also have install and play with Afterburner *after see your video recommendation. But nothings changed.
I have win 8.1 64 bits 8Gb RAM NVIDA GForce GT610 2GB
Please, let me know what can I do!
Best regards, -
Hi Pedro
teh GT610 is very low end GPU for any serious work. try get at least any card with x50-x70 card.
The GPU was never prepared to handle to process data like this, they not properly cool the cards.. the fan is not suited for some serious GPU intensive work.... Only one more option is to under clock the card say 20 % should be possible ( MSI Afterburner ) or get better cooling.. But easier, "cheapest" and most reliable way is to get some mid-range GPU...
