    Hi Bill

    Coloring = just get color of mesh, triangles get its color.
    Texturing = get a 2D bitmap on the mesh, texture will give more details.

    If you do 3D from laser scans of high-res images, then you have typically very dense models and vertex coloring is sufficient. It also cost less memory & speed. If you simplify models and/or you have big triangles then making texturing is preferred.
