Best way to align alot Images?
AnsweredMy question, ive made around 800 pix (Urban, Houses), first added them all at once and ended up with alot Components,
the biggest one had aprox 400-500 pix. What is the best way to go from here, add points to the other
Components and re align again until you end up with just one Component?
Or Start with just a few pictures and add new pictures slowly, what is this draft alignment? Does it work in the Demo?
Thanks for any help!

Hi Nedo
the best workflow for large (1000+ ) img count is to use COMPONENT workflow, so align smaller parts export as RC COMPONENT
import back in WORKFLOW -> COMPONENTS
take a look to geta idea of the COMPONENT workflow https://www.dropbox.com/s/y6nlvw64qporp ... S.png?dl=0
but in this particular project of 800 imgs, what settings are you using fro alignment ?
can post some screens to get a idea and help to solve it ? -
Hello Wishgranter!
I successfully build my first project (800 pix), ive learned how CR use Images and what i did wrong while making the pictures.
I will post later today how i did it, but a quick info on my workflow:
Ive added only a few pictures to my working jpg folder, aligned them, then added some more pictures to the jpg folder,
then starting alignment again, if the pics align fine, i added more pics to the jpg folder, if the pics didnt align ok, i startet to add control points then align again until i end up with one big component, and delete the old not needed components.
I repeated this until i had all 800 Images inside one component. ;)
This is sure not the fastest best way, thats why asked.
Will check out Components Workflow! -
Hello Wishgranter, here is a screenshot from my project,
as you can see it just one big component.
Would it be better to have split into smaller components? But how to align all components correct to each other?
I just got my CR license, so i have to build the scene complete new anyway ;) -
Hi Wishgranter,
i have one more question, how to export one component? I only see import component, but dont know how to export one. What to do if i like to export just component 4 ?
And here are my Alignment Settings:
If Alignment dont work ok, what settings should i try to change?
What is Force component rematch ?
and
Merge components only?

Hi Nedo
Just play with this settings https://www.dropbox.com/s/ar45tql8pswgk ... s.png?dl=0
and set back the image overlap to MEDIUM.
Force component rematch = can set to ENABLE, it try go trough all points already used in current alignment
for COMPONENT export can find it in ALIGNMENT -> REGISTRATION
For now set
max features per image to 80k
Preselector - 40k
Image overlap MEDIUM
then delete ALL component except the largest one ( most images aligned ) ...
and use align... -
I'll re-ask one of Nedo's questions because I couldn't find the answer anywhere:What is Force component rematch ?
What does this do?
My guess is that if you have it set to false, then new components will use alignments between images that were found for previous components.
Is my guess correct? -
Wishgranter explained "Force component rematch = can set to ENABLE, it try go trough all points already used in current alignment" - does that mean
all points used in the Component currently selected, or
all points used in all the Components in the project, or
all points detected in all the photos input into the project, whether (until now) used in Components or rejected?
What does Force component rematch do that is stronger or different to simply re-running Align?
Also, Nedo asked "What is Merge components only?" Again, what does it do that is stronger or different to Align's normal attempt to create fewer, larger components?
-
Merge Components only, if set to true, will redo the alignment somewhat different.
In this mode RC takes the multiple components you got from your first alignment and attempts to align them into a new set of - hopefully - fewer components.
If it works, you will get a new set of components but it will be fewer components than when you did the first alignment.
If it fails, you will pretty much just get copies of already existing components.
And if you forget to set that option back to false, any attempts to align a new project will instantly finish and not seem to do anything.
