my first guess would be that the texture dimensions are either too small or if you use a fixed number of textures you specified too few.

So RC cannot find a working unwrap to fit everything within the available texture space and fails.

    Thanks for your feedback,

I have fixed the texel size for both the unwrap and the texturing at 0.4 mm. The unwrap computes 365 16K textures, that can't be texturized them with the same parameters. I have monitored the ressources, the error does neither come from memory overflow, nor low disk space

0.4mm per pixel for a 40m² area is an insanely high resolution.

You need to evaluate if you really need that high a texture resolution.

How close will you or other people get to the mesh surface when viewing it?
How many pixels of screenspace at most will you actually use per square meter when viewing the object?
You should try to target that resolution as anything more would be overkill.

I'm aware of the size of the resulting image, about 10 GigaPixel, and we would like to create even larger ones in the close future. Can Reality Capture create such files ? What are the limits ?

    are you using CLI?

you could split out of mesh into different areas, and run ortho map a dozen times on smaller areas.

this would be a bit of a hassle since you'll need to have each model area with overlap, that you would have to trim later. otherwise you will have missing mesh between each part.

this could be scripted so you can just let it run through them all.

but will be longer processing time than doing it all in one go.

Is it possible that you cleared the chache?
For texturing, you need all the image features of the project present in the cache.
At least that is what I observed...

    Thanks for your feedback guys.
I indeed cleared some cache, but the texturized has been successful at 1cm and 2mm, so it might be something else.

Chris' idea of splitting the project in small parts with CLI may be the answer. Will post my feedback here when i can try it.

    Hmm, that is different then.
Why not make it a bug report?
