Max features/mpx question
I have a question about https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000777711-Retry-specific-images-in-alignment-?page=1#community_comment_115000844991
That post has brilliant insight from Wishgranter and the only explanation I've found of Max features per mpx, which I've found has no effect - there's why.
So is it fair to say, as guideline, that Max features/mpx should be based on:
Max features/img / Image size mpx = Max features/mpx?
e.g. 160k / 20.2mpx = not more than 7.9k Max features per mpx?
Then the Align default settings of 10k Max features/mpx and 40k Max features/img, would be right for images of not less than 4mpx?
And that with Align default setting of 10k Max features/mpx, with 12mpx images, Max features/img should be not less than 120k?
This would seem true with Images overlap Low, in which the whole 12mpx image is used. With Image overlap Medium (default) less of the image is used, and with Image overlap High only the centre of the image is used.
Is there a %age figure for how much of the image is used with Medium and High?
If High was say 40%, then the last calc above would read:
"... with Align default setting of 10k Max features/mpx and Image overlap High, with 12mpx (effectively 4.8mpx) images, Max features/img should be not less than 48k?
-
"Did you determine that Max features per mpx has no effect? If yes, on what and how did you do it exactly?" I only tried increasing Max features per mpx, to no effect - am now going to try reducing it from default.
The only precise question was "Is there a %age figure for how much of the image is used with Images Overlap Medium and High?" (assuming Low is 100%)
Apart from that, I was sharing Wishgranter's explanation of Max features per mpx (which everyone else may know already) and then extending the logic of the mathematical formula he gave.
"So is it fair to say, as guideline, that ..." I'm seeking a reality check - does what I suggested make sense? If so, it's a v useful insight.
