16-bit tiff IN → 16-bit tiff OUT ?
Hi RC community,
I've been going over older posts and there have been many conversations regarding 8, 16 and 32 bit workflows. I understand that with the latest release(s) there has been more support for higher bit depths. However, with my current version of Steam RC I am unable to generate proper 16-bit tiff textures using 16-bit tiff inputs. Currently the exported tiff export produced an 8-bit image with crunched and over-saturated colors. Trying to export an exr (which doesn't make total sense) results in a "not yet implemented" error.
Is it that
- RC internally still converts 16-bit tiff to 8-bit for alignment, reconstruction and texture generation?
- RC expects a specific color-space such as sRBG or AdobeRBG?
- Steam RC isn't running the very latest version and doesn't have this feature implemented yet?
If there is a current 16-bit workflow that works for people I'd love to hear about it. Clients more often than not ask for a linear 16-bit workflow but RC seems to be the current bottleneck in that process.
Thanks a bunch!
Jan
