I got an mediocre dataset with 88 pictures of a mayan pyramid two weeks ago.
It was good enough to make a first 3D model, and we used this for creating first 3D Projection Mapping animations.
Now we got more (44), better photos from the actual projectors positions, and I wondered if it is possible to use them without throwing away our prior work.
Actually, in worst case, it would be enough if I could export the positions of the new cameras in relation to the old camera´s positions. Like this, i could set the camera in our Cinema4d Scenes 100% correctly to the later projectors position.
In best case I could export a new 3D Model, with same scaling/orientation/position, just with the added detail from the 44 new pictures.
I loaded the new photos into the project, pressed "align" and it finely merged all photos, 132 in total, into a new component.
Nice! I thought in the beginning, but the new component with 132 camera alignments is slightly off in scale (maybe 5%) compared to the old component we used to create our 3D models. The orientation stayed the same though.
Now I was wondering:
how to align the new TO the old component?
Alas, if I export a 3D Model reconstructed from 132 cameras, how could I align it perfectly to the 3D Model reconstructed from 88 cameras?
Can it be done with tools inside RC?
Or are there other good tools for that?
