go to selection ---advanced---choose the bigest connection part---.invent , you'll go the small floating parts selected, just filter them. that already there :)

Thanks, John! That method got rid of some tree blobs, but not all of them...

My biggest worry is now how to get rid of the water polygons that stick out above the water surface, as they make the model look really bad (other feature request :))

hello, how were you removing the trees?

First, I used John's suggestion. The rest I tried to cut out manually using the lasso tool looking at the model sideways.

I found lout you can also cut out the trees looking top-down, much easier!

The resulting holes in the ground below the tree can be fixed easily with the RC function "Check Topology", or "Fill Holes"

After these holes are filled, you need to re-texture the model. RC does a wonderful job in this.

pjotr: under scene, tools, section box - you can first draw a x-y plane - then drag up the z plane to make a section box - doing this around the part where you want to trim something makes it much easier to laso-select what you have in mind without also selecting parts far away as everything outside the section-box is temporarily hidden :) simply do 'clear clipping box' when done :)
