Import Registration on a different computer with PPI
I have purchased licenses for about 4000 images on my laptop and have exported the input license file to open on a more powerful computer to process. I know there is currently the limitation where you can't open a PPI project file on any other computer, however, is it possible to export a registration (.rcalign) file and import that on another computer? When I try this I get the message 'the file decryption key is not valid' even if I've imported the license file beforehand.

Are you trying this under the same account? If yes, this should work by just exporting and importing the component as of what I know. Anyways if you would like to just bring the pictures in, without the alignment (in case you want to redo it, for any reason) the pictures will load successfully and already licensed. We store this licensing information on our servers, so as long as it is the same account, this would work on both cases.

Yes, both computers are logged in under the same account. I've tried the following steps in a blank project:
Import license file
Import align component
I've tried switching the order of these but I still get the error. Is there anything else I need to do?

I think your license file is wrong if you get such reports. Anyways as I said, we store this information online so as long as you have paid for the inputs already and are using the very same account, you should only export and import the component with no extra file needed. If done correctly, the images in the imported component should have an L icon next to it.

I have a question: Reading this thread it seems to be possible to export the alignment with licensed pictures (PPI) from a workstation (W1) and opening them on another workstation (W2) and realigning them with the alignment file from W1—skipping the realignment on W2? So the project files are locked to W1 but not the alignment file from W1 or the component from W1?

Component, as well as the project of PPI, is locked to a machine where these were created and cannot be used on another to make it clear.
