Alignment using masks

There could be many reasons for this, especially if the object doesn't have a lot of features. It is also important to have extremely flat lighting as you can imagine, when you flip the rock the light direction completely changes making the features appear to be different especially with a rock. Using more than one flip as in the tutorial helps not having drastic lighting changes. Sometimes more images will help, and sometimes if you are lucky you can just try "merge components" or align again and they will join as a single component.
