Difference between "Lock pose and continue" on an input and export Metadatas (XMP) as locked
So I am trying to add some pictures on an existing component (with already reconstructed and cleaned models...). This topic has been covered but this remains a bit unclear to me.
Specifically, if I have an existing aligned component and I want to add pictures (not aligned yet), what is the difference between :
1-switch all the aligned input to "Lock pose and continue", add my new pictures and hit "align".
2-export Metadata (XMP) as "locked", import images in a new project (with along side XMPs), add my new pictures and hit "align".
3-export Metadata (XMP) as "locked", add my new pictures and hit "align".
I want to then be able to import my previously aligned/reconstructed and cleaned mesh and texture it with the new pictures.

It seems from this similar post that you need to reload the scene after exporting the XMP (for solution #3 above) :
I did some more tests and had unpredictable results (one time it worked prefectly, and one time it failed completely). Use case is always : I have existing images aligned in one alignement, with ground control points, and I want to add new pictures and expect my previous pictures to stay at the exact same position and orientation after than before.
On my fail I noticed that my ground control points were completely off (error between 0.12 and 0.22 m, I am usually at 0.00 m error). Could ground control points interfere with XMP locked poses or "lock pose and continue" inputs ?

Another question, is there anything in the app to remove all the XMP files that were written before if I need to remove the pose "lock" ?
It could be simple for a one-folder project, but on a multiple folder project (the project I am working on is a 50 folder - 30,000 + pictures project) this is not that easy.

I am still having this need. Could someone from RC explain the difference between "lock pose for continue" and xmp exports ?
I have a reference component that I want to keep (because it defines a frame of reference / a pivot point for all my models...).
And I want to add more pictures (overlaping with pictures of reference component).
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and it seems to be random.
And what is really annoying is that I need to export in "Project output" to see if that worked. Because even if that worked, the component is centered on the Grid. And by the way, this is really very unclear how the Grid coordinates and Project output coordinates work together. Why the grid does not show the project output coordinates instead of another coordinate that seems useless ? This would be so much simpler...
