hello Greg, could you please specify at what stage of processing do you experience this issue and how long does it take for you when the abort process is completed naturally (without "killing the application")?

are you running any other applications/programs while RealityCapture is processing your last order(s)?

can I also please have your OS and HW specs and a sample RC project of yours where this issue appears?

as for the autosave function, you can vote for its implementation here: https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115001350612

It happens during Reconstruction or Texturing if it is a big project, (lots of high res images and when texturing making big textures). Waiting 10 minutes, a half hour or longer is not unusual.

No, not running other applications, occasionally I might have a web browser window open but it happens even when no browser is running.

Windows 10 Pro, i9-7960X @ 2.8GHz, 128 GB, but this has happened on the half dozen machines I have used.

Mainly my question is what are the disadvantages if any to killing the application rather than waiting for it if you had the foresight to save your project?

I am sorry for getting back to you just now,

when you "kill" the application, the last project changes will not be saved,

a sample RC project of yours where this issue appears would help us test and resolve the issue for the future

I have this issue constantly. Choosing to abort texturing, coloring points, exporting... RC says, "aborting the process", but in the Windows 10 Task Manager, and in Explorer I can see the task doing the same things it was before I hit "abort": still writing to the OBJ file, still reading from the network, still using the same CPU and RAM... now going on 5 minutes...  (I am going to kill the task now. )

My scene is very large (I'm not sure how to spec it for you..) , I'm running Windows 10 on a I7 with 32 GB and a 1080 GTX card.
