First Scan - Need a little help
AnsweredHi. I put together my first scan and I'm certain that there is more detail to be had. Can anyone enlighten me as to what is going on here? This is a reconstruction at Normal settings and I am currently running a High. It is going to take a few days though, so maybe there is a way to shrink the overall size and have it work a little more quickly. Thanks in advance.

Hi Alasdair,
what exactly is your question? :-)
The scan looks good but what else do you expect or what do you want to be improved?
I don't know of any software that is even remotely as fast as RC and at the same time provides as much detail.

Hello,
When application perform alignment/ reconstruction or other calculations i can display the model only in vertices mode. This happens to release GPU resources for faster calculation. To read more please see help topic - Real-time Scene Renderer Reconstruction in high quality mode takes significantly longer time than normal mode.

Hi Götz
My question is - what is with all the black dots and areas with no detail? Is it purely the normal reconstruction mode that causes this or is it something else? I would have hoped that there were no areas without detail. Also, is there a way to reduce the time of high level reconstruction from days, or is this normal?

Rafa. Which help topic are you referring to?
-
Hi Alasdair,
less dense areas are usually caused by lack of features. Under the lamp for example I bet that the images are over-exposed. The horizontal strip on the wall might be caused by insufficient overlap, but that's only a guess. If you want a high detail reconstruction (many users are content with normal), then it takes as long as it takes. Still quicker than everything out there so far by the order of 5-10 and most competitors can't even handle the amount of images due to hardware limitations.

hello, Rafa meant a tutorial named 'Real-time Scene Renderer'

Hi Alasdair,
did you turn on the "solid" mode in the scene tab already? If so, could you please make a screenshot of your mesh and your reconstruction settings?
Best,
Uwe

Rafa - where on earth is this video? Ii cannot find it anywhere.
Uwe. I'm making some progress. Turns out my model was wayyyy too big. Have simplified it and getting much better results now.

Dear Alasdair McBroom,
If you open help section (pres F1 on your keyboard, and search for the topic - Real-time Scene Renderer you will find all information about how RealityCapture displays scenes. There is as well video. If you want to display your original mesh please check as well subject Clipping Box. There is video too. -
Thanks Rafa - I was looking on this website rather than the app.
