Scan and Imagery Alignment issue
Hi all
I’ve taken on my first project in aligning drone imagery and scan data of a tower. The scan is georeferenced and the drone imagery isn’t.
Steps I did
1-Imported scan data and aligned to view
2-Imported drone imagery and aligned
3-added control points by clicking common points
4-clicked merge components
After this it seems to misalign the data in height. It’s throwing the image component down in Z value compared to the scan.
I added 3 common points in each face (4faces) do I need more?
Alignment report
Tot proj 3903709
Ave track 2.9
Max error pix 1.999
Median error pic 0.38
Mean error pix 0.506
Are these results actually ok and I’m just not seeing them merged correctly?

Hello,
Here is a webinar on how to combine images and lasers scans: https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016339899-Advanced-workflow-for-a-combination-of-images-and-laser-scans-webinar-It is recommended to have at least three images per control points. This means that there may be more, which I recommend when combining images with scans. Make sure that control points are seen both on images, and laser scans.
Since the issue comes up with the alignment, are you sure that images don't have any geo-location data? Please click on one of the images and check Absolute pose in Selected Inputs Panel under Prior pose.
