    I have the same issue since I use fixed texel size. I had it for maybe 10/15 models at least.

    Only solution I found is to switch to maximum texture count and to be limited to less than 100% texture quality.

    I tried your solution, and i didn't get the error but the texture quality is very bad.

    Here is a screen of the unwrap parameters and the result on the model :

    As you can see, i put a limit of 500 maximal texture count, but it only make 10 textures...

    Did you use texture reprojection or simple texturing?

    When you did the texture on the 1M mesh, did you get 100% quality with 4k texture ? It might help to increase texture size to 8k if it's not.

    I noticed less of the " could not meet (...) requirement " when reprojecting texture on a simplified mesh with 8k fixed texel size unwrap than with 4k textures.

    But anyway, this is an issue I hope will be rectified soon as you could be limited to 60/70% texture quality whatever you do.

    Texture reprojection is also limited, it reduce quality when reprojecting.

    It looks that quality percent is relative to poly count.

    I can get approximately 20% quality with 16k textures, but i need 4k textures.
