How does RC use multiple existing components for new alignment?
Hello!
If RC creates many small components, then I delete all, but I keep the biggest component.
Now I run the alignment again, and RC will create new components.
The newly created big component is ususally bigger after second alignment.
So obviously RC uses the previous / existing component as a guidance for the next alignment.
It works fine.
But what does RC do if keep the 2 biggest components, and not only 1 component?
I don't understand what is happening exactely / how RC behaves in this case, so I wanted to ask.

Hi Patrick, a component is a group of images which are aligned together. Sometimes you can get more components, for example when your photo collection contains more than one disjoint physical object, object texture is weak, there are not enough images or the change in perspective is too high, overlap among images is small and RealityCapture could not pair the images automatically. RC keeps all components until you delete them. These components can be used for another alignment. If you want to create a model, then you are working with just one component. So you need to achieve to have the most possible images in one component from your dataset.
