How can I make sure my model is reconstructed properly?
First of all, please check the tutorial in the application settings. Once you start capturing the images, those are automatically being aligned and you can see the preview of your model in a form of voxels. The color-coding of the voxels will show you the areas with low coverage of the images in red. The rule stands here - the greener the better.
You can see the same color coding on the preview model after the meshing is finished.
What objects are not suitable for scanning?
Avoid transparent, shiny, or textureless objects, those are not good for the reconstruction from images. Also please make sure that your object or its parts are not moving, e.g. due to wind or your movement around the object.
Some of the images are highlighted in orange. What does it mean?
The orange line around the image means that this image is not aligned/connected with other images. To align this image, take some other images near its position.
Some of the images are highlighted in red. What does it mean?
The red line around the image means that this image is blurry. Move close to its position and retake the new image here.
Autocapture feature is producing blurry images. Why?
This could be related to your movement speed. In autocapture mode move slowly around the object to capture all non-blurry images.
Can I use RealityScan app on Android?
No, RealityScan now works only on iOS.
Do I need to pay to export the model?
No, the application itself and all exports are completely free of charge.
There are large triangles created around the model. How to avoid this?
In this case, you can try to change the reconstruction region slightly or you can capture more images around your object and reconstruct the model again.
Can I switch between cameras on my iPhone (12-13)?
No, this is not possible to do in the application.
Why I don't see the final model in the application itself?
You can see the created model in a Capture mode or in Inspect mode as green-to-red mesh. If you are not able to see it, it is possible that the meshing is not finished yet, or you have a toggle for showing the model disabled (a little cube icon). The fully textured model is possible to see in Sketchfab after the export.
In which formats can I export the 3D model?
The model can be exported directly to Sketchfab from the application. Then is possible to download it from Sketchfab, when it is set to in GLB format.
Do I need to install a Sketchfab application to export the 3D model?
It is not necessary to have this application, but you need to have created a Sketchfab account.
Can I return to the 3D model after it’s exported to Sketchab?
No, this is not possible. If you want to do some creations, you can do it in Sketchfab.
Is there a limit on how many 3D models I can export a day?
No, there is no limit for a number of exported models. But there is a limit for the number of models you can upload to your Sketchfab account depending on your Sketchfab plan https://sketchfab.com/plans.
What do green and red color voxels/mesh mean?
Green voxels/mesh indicate that this part of the object has a good selection of inputs focused on it from various good angles and will/did likely mesh well. Red voxels indicate that an area has been poorly scanned and it is recommended to take more photos of this area from more angles in between the previous shots of this area.
How can I make my model look better on Sketchfab?
First of all go to “Edit 3d settings”. Then on the second tab (lighting) with an icon of a lightbulb, turn on “ground shadows” and select “baked AO”.
Then in the 4th tab (post processing filters) try out some post process effects: depth of field, sharpness, saturation.
Where can i find my images?
You can find the images from your latest scan only. These can be found in a folder called "RealityScan" on your phone.
Will my model be scaled?
Yes, it is scaled. The app uses the AR positions of the cams to calculate the scale.
